Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. by being a good neighbor.
This is the Way.
I’m not super-knowledgeable about MLK but I have made an attempt to learn about him. It seems MRP’s goals and MLK’s principles are not that far removed from each other. In particular, I don’t think Dr. King would disagree with the sentiment of lending a helping hand to your neighbor. Every year the team at MRP attempts to honor MLK’s legacy by doing something to serve the community. This year we planned to fill the food pantry at the Willard community center. Cold weather gear and cold weather food were gathered and delivered, but turns out the pantry is missing a door and is currently full of snow! We’ll get that fixed and get the box filled.
A neighbor cleared the driveway of snow at MRP headquarters today. The neighbor didn’t even know our maintenance manager has a bad back, forgot to get his snow blower maintenanced and is frequently wrangling human toddlers. Just being neighborly.
So try it- take in your neighbor’s trash bin, pick up litter, donate to a food pantry or to your favorite charity. Do it any day you want, but particularly on MLK Day.
