Holiday Backpack Program

Each Christmas MRP partners with community organizations to give gift bags to Lincoln-area kids that can use a little extra something under the Christmas tree.

Holiday Cheer for Kids in Need

Each year, our Holiday Backpack Program supports approximately 50 elementary-age students and their families. Every backpack is packed with essentials—including winter coats, warm clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, books, and healthy snack packs for the winter break. We also add plenty of holiday cheer with baldorf game sets, activity books, special gifts for the kids, and treats for parents and caregivers. Together, we can ensure students have a joyful break and return confident for the spring semester. ‘Tis the season—help us lend a hand to families in need.

Sponsor a child this holiday season.

A gift of $125 fully funds a backpack filled with over $200 in winter essentials, food, and gifts. Every dollar makes a direct impact:

  • $25 — Hygiene essentials & a healthy snack pack
  • $60 — A warm winter coat, clothing & school supplies
  • $125 — Full backpack package ($200+ value) for a student and their family

  • 2025, Boys & Girls Club at Park Middle School | The Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln & Lancaster County works to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
  • 2019-2024, Roper Elementary School | Roper Elementary is part of the Lincoln Public Schools system. MRP supported students identified by the school.
  • 2018, Lakeview Elementary and Boys and Girls Club | The Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln & Lancaster County works to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
  • 2017, Lakeview Elementary | Lakeview Elementary is part of the Lincoln Public Schools system.  MRP supported students through the Community Learning Center.  CLCs are a strategy to support successful students, thriving families, strong neighborhoods.
  • 2016, The Malone Center | The Malone Center strengthens the African American community in Lincoln and Lancaster County by serving as a cornerstone for educational, cultural, and advocacy programs for all people.​
  • 2015, Friendship Home | Friendship Home exists to support, shelter and advocate for victims of domestic violence and their children.
  • 2014, The BAY | The BAY is centered on creating opportunities for youth to connect them with positive activities, positive adults and the community.
